Mimmo Paladino


Mimmo Paladino is an Italian painter, sculptor and graphic artist. He was born as Domenico Paladino on December 18, 1948 in Paduli, Campania, Italy. He studied at the Liceo Artistico in Benevento from 1964 to 1968. He is one of the most famous artists of the Transavant Garde movement, together with Sandro Chia, Francesco Clemente, Enzo Cucchi and Nicola de Maria.

In June 2008 an important work by Paladino was unveiled, "Porta di Lampedusa - Porta d'Europa", a monument in memory of the migrants from Africa who died during the crossing. He also worked with Brian Eno for the installation "I Dormienti" that was created in the Roundhouse in London.
