Roy Lichtenstein, 27 October 1923 - 29 September 1997 was an American Pop Artist. During the 1960's he became a leading figure in the Pop Art Movement, along with Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns and James Rosenquist. Lichtensteins artworks defined the premise of Pop Art through parody and inspired by the comic strip. He described Pop Art as "not 'American' painting but actually industrial painting".
One of his most famous artworks are Whaam! and Drowning Girl. His most expensive artwork Masterpiece was sold for 165 million dollar in January 2017.
