Rupprecht Geiger, born in Munich (26 January 1908 – 6 December 2009), began Painting as a child. From 1926 till 1935 he studied and taught architecture and art at academic instutions in Munich. He exhibited his first abstract painting in 1948. In 1949 he was the co-founder of the Munich artists' griup Zen 49.
Geigers paintings are often concerned with the theme of color. His paintings are characterized by simple geometric forms, bright colors, and intense contrasts.
