Victor Vasarely, 9 April 1906 - 15 March 1997, was born as Vásárhelyi Győző. He was an Hungarian-French artist. Vasarely became one of the leading figures of geometric abstract painting and is widely accepted as the 'grandfather' and leader of the Op Art Movement.
Most of Vasarely's artworks are geometric abstract and have strong contrasts, initially in black and white and later in bright colors. He creates an optical effect with his geometric abstract paintings, that gives the impression that everything in the image starts to vibrate.
